Will you still love me tomorrow?

November 23, 2009

November is almost over and I’ve barely been able to post any blog entries. I know, it’s shameful.

To compensate for the lack of music on my blog, here is a live cover of “Will you still love me tomorrow” by my favourite, (yes, you guessed it) Lykke Li. It’s a sadder, completely piano-based version of the Shirelles‘.

Enjoy.

All because of garçons

June 20, 2009

Oh, another Foreign Exchange song between Yelle and Robyn! In my opinion, this one isn’t as good as “Who’s That Girl/Qui Est Cette Fille?” but I still like it.

Robyn translated the lyrics of Yelle’s “À cause des garçons” to English and put them over her covered instrumental version of “Cobrastyle” (originally done by Teddy Bears).

I like Yelle’s original version more but the translated version gives me a better idea of what the lyrics are about and the instrumentals to “Cobrastyle” are pretty groovy as well.

Robyn – Because of boys

Qui est cette fille that you dream of?

June 15, 2009

Robyn and Yelle are best buds who are doing something called Foreign Exchange. This results in both of the ladies covering each others music and translating it into the language they originally sing in as well. It’s pretty amazing. Yelle covered Robyn’s “Who’s That Girl” and put her crazy dance-pop-electro-glitzy twist to it.

Yelle – Qui Est Cette Fille?

Robyn – Who’s That Girl?

Also, how many songs are called “Who’s That Girl”? Seriously, just look it up on Youtube.

Everybody gonna say "You, K"

December 11, 2008

For the past couple of days, I’ve had Estelle’s “American Boy” stuck in my head. I think it may be because I keep thinking “I’m in the UK.” And then, Kanye’s rap sequence comes into my head; the part where he says “Who killing them in the UK? Everybody gonna say ‘You, K’”. It’s not a very good line but it keeps getting stuck in my head these days.
I decided to YouTube the song and an impressive cover by Sam Sparro came up. In the middle of the song, he does his own little rap; it’s entertaining.
Check it out.

I don’t care what nobody says…

November 30, 2008

This wonderful remix/cover of “Knocked Up” is from the Kings of Leon‘s Use Somebody single. Like stated in other blogs, it’s hard to determine whether or not this is a cover or a remix. I guess it’s a bit of both. But whatever it is, it’s excellent.
The combination of Lykke Li‘s voice and Caleb Followill’s voice is soothing and perfect. Whoever put this together did a good job putting a Lykke Li twist on it.
The original (which was released in 2007) is also excellent; brings back nostalgic memories.
