Jónsi (Sigur Rós) Solo Project, Go

February 13, 2010

Jón Þór Birgisson, lead singer and guitarist of the Icelandic band Sigur Rós, has started a solo project that goes by his nickname, Jónsi. The debut album is called Go.

So far, I’ve just heard the song “Go Do.” It emits the same feel as the song “Gobbledigook” by Sigur Rós. Both are very playful and upbeat. The two songs would be perfect companionship during a spontaneous jog through a green meadow.

Something that was kind of exciting at first: “Go Do” is in English. But to be honest, I still can’t really make out what he’s singing. His voice is just really nice to listen to no matter which language the lyrics are written in.

The video is a good one to check out too. It includes freeing birds, rocking out on a suitcase and the ocean; an all-around great music video.

Sigur Rós

June 13, 2008

Ok two posts in one day…I know I’m a nerd but I’m really digging the new Sigur Rós album. Yes, it hasn’t officially been released yet (the release date is June 23) but you can hear the whole album on sigur-ros.co.uk.
I’ve always liked Sigur Rós but I’ve never actually listened to a full album of theirs straight through before. I just did it with this album (which is called með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust). I would definitely recommend a sit down with this whole album. Very good, very relaxing, very amazing, very epic. Even though I have no idea what the lyrics mean it still feels like I’m being lead through an amazing story of battles, love, adventure and heartbreak.

Also, I really like the album cover.

And this picture.
